The Majesty of Organ and Brass

An evening of music for organ and brass quintet with Julia Brown, new Music Director and Organist of Mayflower Congregational Church, in collaboration with Majestic Brass of Grand Rapids. Program includes grand, joyful music by Campra, Gigout, Bach and Bernstein.

In demand as a historical keyboardist and collaborative artist, Julia has appeared in concert in North and South America and in Europe. Her many recordings with Naxos, including works of W.F. Bach, J.S. Bach, Buxtehude and Scheidemann, have gained high critical acclaim. Reviews hail her as an “unquestionably first-class artist and superb technician…exceptionally sensitive”, “the playing…projects a warmly musical personality.”

Harpsichord in the Atrium

Internationally acclaimed early keyboard artist Elisabeth Wright is Professor at the Historical Performance Institute of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. She has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and continuo improviser at numerous festivals and concert series, including Mostly Mozart (New York), Tanglewood and Sydney Festival. Ms. Wright has been broadcast on five continents, has recorded many CDs and recently gave master classes at Stanford and the San Francisco Conservatory. She serves as a board member of the Early Music America and a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts.

Come experience the great artistry of one of the premier harpsichordists in the country as she performs music of Bach, François Couperin and Froberger on a beautiful harpsichord built by Richard Kingston.
