At times Mayflower offers special educational opportunities before or after the worship service on Sunday mornings.

This fall we will offer a workshop on our sermon series, THE ESSENTIALS: On the Lord’s Prayer and the Christian Life. Join us after worship as we discern how to apply the Lord’s Prayer to our lives:

  • September 16 – Thy Kingdom come
  • September 23 – Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
  • September 30 – Give us this day our daily bread
  • October 7 – Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors
  • October 14 – Lead us not into temptation
  • October 21 – But deliver us from evil

Earlier this year our series “The Feast” explored the connection between faith and fiction as we reflected on authors such as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Margaret Atwood. The series also included well known local authors Rhoda Janzen, English Professor at Hope College, who spoke about her bestselling novel, Mennonite in a Little Black Dress: A Memoir of Going Home and Gary Schmidt, English Professor at Calvin College, on his Newbery Honor-winning book, Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy.

During Lent our “Portraits of Lent” workshops focused on Biblical characters Jesus encounters on the way to the cross and how these encounters can help us on our own inward and outward journey.
